FLESH POLICE-REHEARSAL 2012 CS
Brutal and uncompromising Power Violence from the city of
Churches, . It is hard to ascertain if the
level of distortion and violence created here is actually from these mad
fuckers going wild on their instruments or the shitty tape deck that was used
to record their outpouring of 90’s B&W fold out sleeved 7” worship or the
spray paint used to disguise the brand on the blank tapes leaking onto the
actual tape inside the case, or all of the above, I guess we will see on their
next outing when they inevitably fork out a few bucks and step up the recording
budget to release something on Deep Six or Coffin Cut records. Flesh Police
exhibit the perfect understanding of PV by remaining negative and hateful while
never resorting to lifting weights in some attempt to ward off unwanted fights
from bogans in the streets. To me the PV scene right now seems to be divided
between those that see it as a variant of Hardcore and hold those values of
rejection of the norm and society close to their heart and those who have
embraced the jock mentality and treat this kinda music as some off shoot of metal
and the mindnumbing mentality that surrounds overt confidence and showmanship.
PV to me is ugly, negative and degrading and that is what makes it brutal and
disgusting, when that gets replaced by dudes competently playing their
instruments with perfect clarity in a studio using trickery and posed shots
with their shirts off on the sleeve it bleeds into an area I have no interest
in and in many ways this has sullied the whole scene, the jock-ification of PV
has hurt it and means any new release tagged as such is approached with severe
trepidation and caution. Flesh Police have made me open up my eyes again and
forced me to look around and see what I may have missed these past months via
labels such as Iron Lung or Deep Six, and it turns out that the answer is not
much, except maybe Manpig. Oh and Flesh Police have a track called Parasite, so
the boxes have ALL been checked on this one. Adelaide (CORRECTION, THESE DUDES ARE ACTUALLY FROM PERTH, WA)
IN MY REVIEW OF THE FLESH POLICE TAPE I SLANDERED THEM BY STATING THEY ARE FROM ADELAIDE, SA WHEN IN FACT THEY HAIL FROM THE POWERVIOLENCE BREEDING GROUND OF PERTH, WA.
MY APOLOGIES FOR THIS ERROR.

To coincide with this stunning bands interview in Issue 26 of Down and Out, Crippled Sound have sent me a few copies of the amazing Need demo. Read the zine while listening to this (and then buy another copy of the zine cause the first one got torn in half sometime there in the madness of this short blast of putrid, disgusting HC pulsing through your ears)
Sold Out from the label
A few years ago I attempted to do a zine distro, it failed, postage is shit, still is. After spring cleaning I found the spoils of war and figure I will put them into the store for anyone that wants a snapshot of 2010 zine writing.
oh and I got two copies of the amazing PE zine Fordamning too.
